Damien Joly - Associate Director, Wildlife Heath Monitoring and Epidemiology

Damien Joly is Associate Director, Wildlife Heath Monitoring and Epidemiology at WCS Canada. For his Ph.D. he studies how wolf predation and disease interact to affect the population dynamics of wood bison in northern Canada. His work focuses on wildlife diseases that either directly threaten wildlife conservation through impacts on wildlife demography, or indirectly threaten wildlife through human activities to control perceived or real threats to human or livestock health. He has worked on conservation / health issues like foot and mouth disease in Mongolian gazelles, bovine tuberculosis and brucellosis in American bison, chronic wasting disease in deer, and avian influenza in wild birds.
