Mineral Exploration Permits Tool

Information about mineral exploration is available to the public only through individual permit applications on the Environmental Registry. These applications do not describe the impacts of the activities on caribou (or other fish and wildlife). Nor is the information provided on a map, making it difficult to determine the overall effects of these developments on wildlife. The inadequacy of readily-available information contributes to a lack of public feedback and input on permit applications on the Environmental Registry.

Using this tool, users can track the status of exploration permits and determine where different types of exploration activities are occurring on the landscape relative to boreal caribou ranges.
